NFL Fantasy Teams: AFC East Roster (Defensive Line)

Defensive End 1: Bruce Smith, Buffalo Bills; Back-up: Mark Gastineau, New York Jets;
Unless J.J. Watt or Aldon Smith can stay completely healthy and jail-free for the next 10 years and keep up the paces they are on, it appears that Bruce Smith's record of 200 Sacks will stand for decades to come. Check out all the DeMarcus Wares, Jared Allens, Julius Peppers, etc. and you will see that they are already well into their 30s and losing serious steam-- and nowhere close to Smith yet. He is definitely the heart and soul of this AFC East Defense, and he says he will be looking for Troy Aikman.

Defensive End 2: Jason Taylor, Miami Dolphins; Back-up: Joe Klecko, New York Jets;

There is just something about Taylor die-hard old school football fans like me never cared for. Maybe it was his "pretty boy" image he embraced, or maybe it was his threat to retire if the NFL did not award him Defensive Player of the Year in 2006. Regardless, he defied us all and continued to go out there and be a man among boys every Sunday on the field. He finished with 139.5 sacks, 6th all-time. He also holds the NFL record for fumble returns for touchdowns, with 6.

Defensive Tackle: Richard Seymour, New England Patriots; Back-up: Ted Washington, Buffalo Bills;

Seymour, who dominated the 2000s with numerous Pro-Bowls and All-Pro selections, won 3 Super Bowls with his team. A 2001 NFL Draft pick out of the University of Georgia, Seymour is widely known as the greatest #6 Draft pick in the history of the draft.
