NFL Fantasy Teams: AFC East Roster (Quarterback, RB)

The AFC East kicks off their lineup by introducing the #2 overall QBs unit among all divisions.

AFC East Starting Quarterback: Tom Brady, New England Patriots
It was not easy to choose any quarterback to keep Dan Marino on the bench, but here is one dude who would. Brady has consistently proven that it simply does not matter which receivers he has on the field. He will always do whatever is necessary to have his team in the absolute best position. Sure, he has enjoyed the likes of Moss, Welker, and Gronkowski, but he has won all of his Super Bowls with less reputable haulers.

Back-up Quarterback: Dan Marino, Miami Dolphins

Back-up Quarterback: Jim Kelly, Buffalo Bills

The AFC East adds to their deadly arsenal with the #2-ranked overall Running Backs unit among all divisions.

AFC East Starting Running Back: O.J. Simpson, Buffalo Bills
This. This right here was the most difficult choice we had throughout this entire process for any and all NFL divisions. OJ, Curtis, and Thurman. The slasher (no pun intended), the pacer, and the ultimate weapon. And of course, they were all extremely unique in their own right. Curtis Martin, the blueprint for model consistency, finished an unbelievable 4th ALL-TIME in rushing yards. Thomas, who recorded over 4,500 receiving yards and 23 receiving TDs, was also an elite blocker. Ended up having to go with the original. Simpson was not only the first player to rush for 2,000 yards in one season, but he is still the only one who has ever done so in only 14 games.

Back-up Running Back: Curtis Martin, New York Jets

Back-up Running Back: Thurman Thomas, Buffalo Bills

Fullback: Larry Csonka, Miami Dolphins; Back-up: Tony Richardson, New York Jets;
You might think we took the cheap way out by designating Csonka as a Fullback here just to get him onto the starting roster, but think again. Dude wasn't Mercury Morris. Csonka blocked more than he ran. Said Minnesota Vikings linebacker Jeff Siemon after Super Bowl VIII, "It's not the collision that gets you. It's what happens after you tackle him. His legs are just so strong he keeps moving. He carries you. He's a movable weight."
