With arguably the best Punter and Kicker in NFL history and one of the best return guys, the AFC South feels quite confident in their top-notch Special Teams unit.
AFC South Starting Kicker: Adam Vinatieri, Indianapolis Colts
Ok, ok, so we mostly associate him as a Patriot, and it is true that he is also the starting Kicker for the AFC East; however, let's look at what he has done in Indy. He has now played for the Colts for 8 years, and his production has not dropped from his glory years in New England. He nailed 3 field goals in Super Bowl XLI to help Indy win a Super Bowl, he has had 100% perfection on his PATs 6 of those 8 seasons, and achieved his 2nd-highest scoring season in 2013, with 139 points. He is currently 7th all-time in PATs and Field Goals made. This is no shocker, but he has all the field goal-related NFL records in terms of both Playoffs and Super Bowls.
AFC South Starting Punter: Shane Lechler, Houston Texans
Ok, so we are basically cheating here. He has only played for Houston for one season so far, but he is the greatest punter in history. What's the problem? He was a Raider most of his career, and I just don't think I could live with myself if I left Ray Guy off his divisional roster. After all, he is the only Punter in the Hall of Fame... that is, until Lechler gets in. The numbers speak for themselves-- 7 Pro Bowls, 9 All-Pro selections, oh and he is the NFL's all-time leader in career punting average and is the active iron man leader for consecutive games played by an NFL player.
AFC South Starting Kick/Punt Returner: Billy "White Shoes" Johnson, Tennessee Titans (Houston Oilers)
Known for his touchdown celebrations, "White Shoes" injected some much-needed life into the Oilers' franchise before Earl Campbell came into town. He made 3 Pro Bowls and 3 All-Pro teams solely on his return ability. His 6 career Punt Return touchdowns rank #8th all-time. Johnson made the NFL 75th Anniversary All-Time team, earned Pro Bowl MVP in 1975, and won Comeback Player of the Year in 1983.
